Colorado Dual Sport July 2009 - baysideadventuresports' Photos

This was an experimental trip to determine if a dual sport trip to Colorado was worthwhile. The drive to get there is long (1,100 miles) but we are going back so i guess it was worth it!!

baysideadventuresports > The top of American Flag Mountain, 12,500 feet. Move my DRZ forward another 6 feet and it goes down a couple thousand feet. Yes the flag is right on the edge of the mountain.

baysideadventuresports > Bob, Paul & Tim at the top of Flag Mountain. You have to go here!!

baysideadventuresports > The snow was too deep to make it through. We are about 13,800 feet here.

baysideadventuresports > Colorado is spectacular. One of the many valleys we encountered.

baysideadventuresports > Bob crossing one the the small streams we found. This was leaving Flag mountain on the way to Crested Butte.

baysideadventuresports > Our group on the way up to Mosquito Pass outside Leadville.You can see the trail as it winds its way up the mountain. Here we are about 12,000 feet on the way to the summit of a bit over 13,000 feet.

baysideadventuresports > Bob, Paul and Tim at Mosquito Pass at 13,185 feet. This is the summit by "road" but we could still keep climbing (see the trail in the background). Somewhere along there is the highest point we rode at 13,850 feet.

See the flag at the top of the mountain? That is where we are going... See the drop off by the flag? That is not where we are going!
